Danielle - Autism and Neurodivergence Therapy

The overall goal of our time together? To develop and more realistically identify your strengths and potential in career, relationships, partnerships, and develop the practical coping skills and insight to engage with your hobbies, even when it’s hard to bring yourself to enjoy things. We will explore your core values, and we can explore goals and connections that align with them.

I’m direct as I need to be, human, and irreverent. I have a warm approach that holds clients accountable for changing what they want to change and feel ready to change. I encourage clients to reframe their experience through a lens of self-compassion while also exploring areas for growth and hold space for exploring other potential explanations and solutions for everyday problems.

When I’m not being a therapist, I love to write and perform standup comedy, make art, write (poetry, fiction, nonfiction), read, research, play with my cats, watch my shows and movies, infodump/nerd out with friends, and eat good food! Making themed playlists is also my “jam,” pun intended. As a social worker, I do activist work for marginalized communities and volunteer when I can

Who Am I?

Do you ever ask yourself questions such as, “Who am I, what do I stand for, and what is my place in this world?” As a neurodivergent (AuDHD) comedian and existentialist, we’re gonna talk to you about what makes life worth living and laugh at the overall absurdity of human existence and how to resolve the lingering existential crisis…

Don’t want to talk about trauma or the meaning of life? We can just shoot the shit and talk about anime, video games, movies, books, music, pets, whatever’s your speed that day. I believe that clients should run at their pace and that the success of therapy hinges on the client feeling heard about the direction of therapy. Colorful language and any brand of humor is welcome, and you can make humor at my expense if you choose to, and I’ll ask you how it made you feel.

My lived experience with ADHD and autism has made for many challenges more complex – and what I’ve learned from my journey is that I had to tailor my coping skills for my brain, and the skills that work for me don’t necessarily work for everyone else. We’ll figure out what doesn’t work; it won’t slow us down because that’s a key part of the process!

While I’m not an art therapist, I am an artist and writer myself, and I encourage creative and unconventional approaches to expression, tailored to each and every client’s individual needs; therapy is not one-size fits all and most of the work we will be doing will be about how to make the most of the time spent outside of therapy.
